Concerts I've Been To (and why, or why not to see these artists)

Whether I know the artist's music well or not, I love going to concerts. There is something about music blasting out your eardrums, stadium snacks, and hanging with your friends that makes concerts one of my favourite things to do. Obviously, going to Budweiser Stage and being on the lawn is unbeatable, but there are some indoor concerts that have also been an amazing time. Even though country and EDM are by far my favourite genres, ironically, I have seen this style live the least. I've seen everything from rap to 80s rock, country to blues live, and each genre offers a different yet amazing experience.

Below, I'll let you know what concerts I've seen (some of them, at least because I've been to too many at this point) and break down whether the artist was worth seeing or not. To start, here are the Top 5 concerts I've been to.

These ladies could make even the worst concert amazing!

5) Filmore

Filmore is a lesser-known country artist, but I saw him at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville and loved it. His voice was not only phenomenal, but he also brought on a group of students with special needs to share the stage and sing with him. Maybe it hit different because it was in Nashville, but it was an amazing night.

4) Marianas Trench

To those of you living in the USA, you probably have no idea who Marianas Trench is. That said, do yourself a favour and search him up on Spotify. I've seen Marianas Trench live three times, and each time it is a great experience. He spends a lot of time walking around the crowd and spends an equal amount of time sharing old music as he does sharing new releases (yes, he still writes new stuff).

3) Selena Gomez

Looking back, the concert probably wasn't phenomenal, but this was my first concert, and it holds a special place in my heart. On the lawn at Bud Stage and belting all the words as loud as my little lungs could was certainly a core memory moment.

2) James Barker Band

Okay, of course, the number two spot is held by the country group James Barker Band that I saw with my best friends at the Orono fair. The band had a great stage presence, and the concert was an ideal way to end the night off after eating fair food and exploring the grounds. Plus, it was a beautiful summer evening which is unbeatable in my humble opinion.

1) Old Dominion

Of course, a country (or pop country) band is my number one concert. It was at the Scotiabank Arena, and we sat way back in the nosebleeds but still had an amazing view of the stage. The row behind us was completely empty, and we shifted back to have all the space to ourselves. Well, that, and the guy next to me was drunk off his rocker and eventually got kicked out. From the music, the company I was with, and the random photo airdropping on the train ride home, this concert takes the cake.

Some other notable concerts:

Valley - they sound great live with minimal, if any instruments and have a cool indie sound to a lot of their music.

Charlie Puth - he was drunk on stage for the whole concert.

Nick Jonas - no word of a lie, he just does not sound good live.

Jillian Jacqueline - holy moly, she's got a voice that fills the entire auditorium.
