After one heck of an early morning, the closest I've ever come to missing a plane boarding, and a delay from a lightning storm, my friends and I finally made it to NOLA! As soon as we checked into our hotel and did a little trip to the grocery store, it was time to get ready and head out to the bars.
The Best Bar of the Night
Our top pick for the night was "30/-90." This bar added a jazzy spin to lots of popular songs, had a ridiculous number of people dancing, and, to top it off - the bartender didn't even bother charging two of us for our drinks. This bar (like most on Frenchmen St.) didn't charge a cover and only told customers to buy a minimum of one drink.
The Laid Back Bar
The "Spotted Cat" was a more chill scene, with lots of table space and less dancing. It was still a cool location and one of the more famous bars on the strip, so we had to check it out.
The Best Food Bar
While there were tons of options for food nearby, we decided to eat at Cafe Negril. Again, the requirement was to buy one drink and stay as long as you'd like! I definitely recommend the Garlic Parm Fries, which were seasoned so well (high praise from a fry connoisseur like myself lol).
Before we left, we stopped by the art market that's open daily. It was cute to see art and jewellery made by local artists that showcase NOLA culture.
The hotel we are staying at also has a rooftop bar, so we decided to head back. But we ended up getting the scariest Uber driver ever. This woman was FaceTiming her child while we were in the car and trying to teach him things. She also almost hit 3 different pedestrians and proceeded to say, "I ain't seeing any of them tonight." In hindsight, we got back safe, but sheesh that was something.
